Chris and I had been friends since the 7th grade when my family moved to Billings and lived in a house on the same street as Chris and her family.
We lost touch over the years until about 2 weeks before she passed, when she called me! It was wonderful to talk together, sharing stories of how we had spent the intervening years and how truly thankful we were to have raised happy, hardworking, 'normal' kids and grandchildren.
She never mentioned her illness.
I feel blessed that she wanted to visit me as an old friend, even though we hadn't spoken with each other for so long. Life is tough but sweet. I think that sometimes we don't appreciate our friends until we lose them.
Rest in peace, Chris. You were loved, and will be missed......Carol
