Yes, I am in North Dakota and yes it's in the US. I am in Mandan because this where my husband is from. It is across the river from Bismarck which is the capitol of ND (just in case your geography class info has slipped your mind). The sign on the way into Mandan states:Where the West begins. No mountains, lots of hills and many protesters against the oil pipeline. We had many "guests" last summe--at one point close to 10,000. I've had to forget all my NDjokes and endure humiliating Mt jokes. Many of them dealing with sheep...I attended
School Story

I graduated from MSU in Bozeman with a dhgree in Secondary Ed with a major in History and a minor in English. Sooo at that time how many female history teachers did you know??? Like none?? Still the case when I graduated college. I substitute taught in Bozeman for a year and I landed my dream job-/ teaching English for 33 years at BHS! I loved my job, I loved my students. Though I didn't teach history, I married the history teacher from across the hall.

It only takes me 7 months to respond to your kind acknowledgment of my birthday! Thank you! It was great to visit with you at our reunion last fall. The concept of 50 years is still difficult to believe but it is what it is. Your choice of careers is so important in this time of final acknowledgment of those of our generation who are facing serious physical and mental health issues. I just lost a very close friend and teaching colleague to the effects of Agent Orange. I still remember when we began reading about Vietnam in our Weekly Readers in American History. Anyway enjoy retirement. Hope you are safe from the horrible fires that seem to plague California so frequently these past 2 years. We have 3 kids in the San Francisco area and worry constantly. Take care and once again it was great to see you!

Edee Coombs here. Finally found a way to tell you thank you for such a poignant and remarkable memoir from the Gazette's series on a Vietnam. Thank you so much for your service and sharing this with us. The article on Steve captured so well the Steve I knew and the proof that it is possible to live up to one's potential while loving what you are doing. Mrs. Larson was one of the best ever! We were very lucky to be in a great school with a great faculty.
