Marie Grinsteiner (Vick)

Marie Grinsteiner (Vick)

MISSOULA – Born Oct. 2, 1948, to John (August) and Viola (Constance) Grinsteiner, Marie Adele Vick joined her heavenly father Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015.

Born and raised in Billings, Marie attended Northside Elementary. At the age of 8, she set a record for high jumping, which still stands today. She attended Billings West High and was active in cheerleading, softball and several track and field events.

Her dedication, especially to family and friends, was beyond her calling, always putting herself second. Marie loved working with the elderly and spent many years as a CAN at Riverside Health Care Center. Living in chronic pain for many years, Marie never complained and she never gave up. She was always pushing forward and never looking back.

Sobriety was of the utmost importance to her. Being a continuous Alcoholics Anonymous supporter for 14 years, she faced her demons head on. Marie was elected to the board of directors three years in a row, and Marie had a love of animals of all sorts. Big or small, her heart went out to them in the caring and tending to and just being their best friends. She was fortunate to have that special gift.

She loved the mountains, camping out and just life itself. Through the hardships and losses in her life, she had the strength to prevail and stand strong. You would often hear her say that every journey in life begins with the first step.

Marie will surely be missed but never forgotten. Her legacy will live on. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, sister and brother. Survivors include her loving, selfless, extremely dedicated and devoted companion of many years, Greg Bessette; daughters Ja Nee Plummer and Jascel McErlain; son Brian Rousch; foster daughter Tasha Pilar, Heidi and Heather; as well as many grandchildren.
