Edythe (Edee) Russell, 69 of Mandan, North Dakota passed away on Dec. 5, in Bismarck, North Dakota of a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, North Dakota with Rev. Jarad Wolf as celebrant. Burial will be held in the spring at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, from 6-8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Edee was born on April 19, 1949 to Eugene and Irene (Sherrow) Coombs in Bozeman. She was raised in Billings. She graduated from Billings West in 1967. She went on to Montana State University where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and graduated with a degree in History and a minor in English. In 1972, she became an English teacher at Bozeman Senior High School where she taught in room E-9 for 33 years. She was a lifelong member of P.E.O.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Walt Russell; children, Keely (Steve) Garrity, Scott (Bridgette) Chestnut, Tom (Carly) Russell, Mary (Nick) Oust, Dan Russell and Mike Russell. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Lucas Oust, Taylor Chestnut, Meredith Kennedy, Madison Garrity, Braden Chestnut, Davis Kennedy, Ian Russell, Zoe Russell and Brock Garrity; her sisters, Gloria Coombs and Julie Bugher; step-mother, Pennie Coombs.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
